The Monongalia County Canine Adoption Center (formally "the dog shelter") has recently been renovated and upgraded. An addition has been built on, including a new cat room, new laundry facilities, and new treatment and grooming rooms. Located across the Westover Bridge, off of River Road, the Canine Adoption Center holds many dogs and cats that have been found, abandoned, or lost. |
| After a dog or cat is taken to the Adoption Center, he/she is generally held for a period time to allow the original owners to claim the dog. If this does not happen then the dog or cat is put up for adoption. The Adoption Center does their best to hold onto the animal for as long as possible in order to find a compatible home. |
